Drew McIntyre Says WWE Titles Should Be Defended Every 30 Days

Drew McIntyre & Roman Reigns

Drew McIntyre has promised to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship every 30 days if he defeats Roman Reigns.

Drew McIntyre is set to compete in the biggest match of his career at Clash At The Castle on September 3rd as he faces Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in front of over 60,000 expected fans, the biggest non-WrestleMania gate in history.

In an interview with the Independent UK, Drew McIntyre discussed his long history with Reigns, being 0-4 against the ‘Tribal Chief’, and his plan to defend the titles every month and represent them on all shows if he is successful in the main event.

“Roman is perhaps my greatest rival since I returned to WWE. He’s always had my number, he’s on the run of a lifetime right now. If I don’t beat him, I just don’t know who will, [but] the winds of change are blowing through WWE right now, it all starts and the top and rolls downhill. How are the titles going to be represented? I believe they should be represented on all shows, be defended at least every thirty days and I’m going to make that happen.”

Reigns has faced criticism during his run as the Undisputed Champion, having only defended the titles twice this year, against Matt Riddle on SmackDown and in a rematch with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Nevertheless, his reign is expected to come to a conclusion at Clash At The Castle when he goes one-on-one with McIntyre in the biggest WWE show in the United Kingdom since SummerSlam 1992.

In an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes’ own Alex McCarthy, Drew McIntyre has also spoken about the possibility of splitting the WWE & Universal Titles and returning them to their respective shows.
