Facepalm! Drew McIntyre Tries To Warn Cody Rhodes; It Brutally Backfires

Drew McIntyre Cody Rhodes

Drew McIntyre wanted to make a statement in front of the WWE fans, but instead, he botched it and made it a facepalm moment.

The Scottish Warrior uploaded a clip on social media, which was supposed to instill fear in the hearts of Cody Rhodes and his supporters. But his words in the video created an embarrassing moment for the veteran. He posted a tweet with a caption,

The Rock wants Cody’s soul. I want his a*s.”

In the clip, he was seen driving a car while entering the parking lot of a wrestling arena. As he made his way to the WWE fans, they started chanting ‘Oh Drew McIntyre,’ showing love and respect to the former World Champion. He slowed his car in front of them and waved his hands like an Opera Conductor, instructing them to continue chanting for him.

McIntyre then stopped, pulled out his phone, and played ‘Kingdom’ by Downstait on his car’s speakers, which is Rhodes’s entrance song. He started laughing, looking proud of his mockery, and increased the volume even more to tease the fans. The Scottish Warrior then shouted, ‘1 week,’ looking at the audience, referring to his match with Rhodes at Wrestlepalooza.

Showing his villainous nature, McIntyre said:

Cody’s a** belongs to me.”

He stopped again at the legendary ‘woahh!’ moment of the song, and then left, with evil laughter. This was one of the many moments where McIntyre was trying to get into his opponent’s mind by teasing them through social media. But what he said in the video and the caption caught everyone’s attention.

McIntyre saying Rhodes’ a** belongs to him was supposed to cement him as a dominant personality ahead of their bout on September 20. But it actually turned out to be a funny moment for the IWC. McIntyre himself realised what he had just said and posted, so he replied to his own tweet, posting the image of Kurt Angle from his infamous exchange with Rey Mysterio about being ‘a boy in a man’s world.’

Even Brandi Rhodes, Cody’s wife, couldn’t stop herself from reacting to the tweet, showing disappointment with a funny GIF.

McIntyre is known for being active on social media, sharing his opinions, threatening other wrestlers, and even posting during the match. He won a well-deserved Social Star of the Year Slammy Award in April 2025. It would be interesting to see whether he posts something from the match on Saturday in Indianapolis.

Drew McIntyre vs Cody Rhodes at Wrestlepalooza

McIntyre faced Rhodes and John Cena in a tag team match on the August 8 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, while teaming up with Logan Paul. After losing the match, McIntyre unleashed hell on Rhodes on the ringside. He Claymore’d Rhodes through the commentary table, writing him off WWE TV.

In the following weeks, McIntyre asserted his dominance on the blue brand, taunting commentators by asking for Rhodes’ medical updates. He made his intentions clear about wanting the Undisputed WWE Championship and wanted to defeat the ‘company’s protected star.’ Randy Orton stepped up against him to defend Rhodes and teach him a lesson. This led to a singles match between McIntyre and Orton on the September 12 episode of SmackDown, which McIntyre won.

He wanted to Claymore Orton through the commentary table as well, but Rhodes returned after being away for more than a month. He started an all-out assault on McIntyre and saved Orton, while announcing a championship match between these two at Wrestlepalooza on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
