WWE have officially announced that Drew McIntyre will battle Randy Orton in a non-title bout on the January 11 edition of Monday Night Raw.
The clash will be a rematch of their WWE Championship war on the November 18, 2020, red brand in which the Scot regained his gold after dropping it to Orton at Hell in a Cell.
The bout was announced as part of a big night for Drew McIntyre, who is advertised to respond to the challenge of Bill Goldberg for a WWE Championship Match at the Royal Rumble on January 31. At time of writing, it is unknown whether the master of the Jackhammer will be in attendance for when Drew inevitably accepts the match.
‘The Scottish Psychopath’ successfully defended his coveted gold against Keith Lee in the main event of Raw Legends Night prior to being surprised by the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
Randy Orton on the other hand has his hands full with Alexa Bliss and the threat of a returning Fiend. While it was heavily suspected that he would again battle the demonic entity at WWE’s second biggest event of the year in a Firefly Funhouse Match, those plans appear to have changed with his entry into the Royal Rumble Match.
The last time ‘The Viper’ had any dealings with either The Fiend of Alexa Bliss was on the December 28 episode of Monday Night Raw when he teased setting ‘Little Miss Bliss’ alight in the same manner he did The Fiend at WWE TLC.
