Drew McIntyre hasn’t featured for WWE since WrestleMania 39 and that absence looks set to continue.
At the spectacular, the Scottish Warrior took part in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship. During the bout also featuring Gunther and Sheamus, the three men put on one of the more hard-hitting displays WrestleMania has ever seen. However, when all was said and done it was Gunther who retained his title.
The match came against a backdrop of uncertainty for McIntyre following reports that his WWE deal will be up by the end of the year. Furthermore, it appears the two parties are a long away apart on terms of a new contract.
This was followed by a report that claimed the former World Champion was unhappy with creative and money.
McIntyre missed the post-WrestleMania SmackDown with a health issue, something that he was also dealing with during the event. Dave Meltzer has now reported via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Daily Update that McIntyre will be out for a number of weeks.
“Drew McIntyre won’t be returning to action for at least a few more weeks, at least based on word over the weekend.”
Drew McIntyre ‘Goes Dark’ On Social Media
Despite his absence from television, Drew McIntyre set tongues wagging as the April 14th episode of SmackDown went on the air. The former World Champion blacked out his Twitter profile, removing his profile picture and all references to WWE. The only connection to WWE is in his Twitter handle.
