In a press release, WWE announced, “Britain’s first ever WWE Champion and one of WWE’s biggest Superstars, Drew McIntyre, tells of a destiny chosen, a destiny squandered, and a champion’s relentless pursuit for redemption in his first ever book.”
Following an incredible year which has saw the Scotsman win a Royal Rumble, challenge and defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, lose the WWE Championship, win it again and then defeat WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg, the accolades keep racking up for McIntyre as the release will document his life story and journey to the summit of WWE.
“In A Chosen Destiny, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre tells his incredible life story and his journey from a small village in Ayrshire, Scotland, to the global spotlight of WWE. As the current WWE Champion in his second reign, his real-life story of dedication, sacrifice, commitment and realising your dream is every bit as gripping as his jaw-dropping performance in the ring.”
The book details how McIntyre would train, with his parents’ support, and prove himself to the small crowds on the Butlins circuit before making it to WWE at 22 years old before being released from the company after tragedy hit his family.
“However, through a series of ill-advised choices and family tragedy, Drew’s life and career spiralled. As a sure-fire champion, he struggled under the pressure of expectations and was eventually released from the company. Facing a crossroads, the powerful Scotsman set a course to show the world the real Drew McIntyre. Buoyed by the support of his wife and the memory of his beloved mother, Drew embarked on a mission to recharge, reinvent and revitalise himself to fulfil his destiny.”
Speaking of the release, McIntyre opened up about the “honour” of getting to tell his story.
“Throughout my career, I have always had an honest and open relationship with my fans. I am honoured that Ebury Press has given me the opportunity to tell my story in hopes of inspiring others around the world to follow their dreams.”
