Drew McIntyre To Face Bobby Lashley For WWE Championship

By James Holder. Published 13th April 2021.

Drew McIntyre has defeated Braun Strowman and Randy Orton to become the Number One Contender for the WWE Championship.

Not that he had much time to celebrate as he was shockingly attacked from behind by T-Bar and MACE, seemingly at the behest of MVP.

Earlier, on the April 12th edition of Monday Night RAW, MVP came to the ring to address Bobby Lashley’s win over Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania. The leader of The Hurt Business said that McIntyre had put up a good fight but that he was second best to the champion.

This brought out the Scottish Warrior who said that he was determined to get his rematch. This in turn brought out Braun Strowman and Randy Orton who both claimed that they should be the next Number One Contender.

Adam Pearce quickly provided a solution, booking a Triple Threat match between the three men for the main event of the show.

As the match got underway, McIntyre and Orton briefly teamed up to take down Strowman. However, Strowman quickly fought back. With all three men on the outside, Braun went to hit his running shoulder tackle, but was thwarted by McIntyre wielding the steel ring steps. Although Braun wouldn’t have to wait too long for revenge, grabbing the steps and hitting both McIntyre and Orton.

The Viper later managed to hit Strowman with his signature DDT and follow it up with an RKO. Seemingly with the match won, Orton pinned the Monster Among Men but was interrupted by a low-flying Claymore from McIntyre. Leaving the Scotsman to pick up the win.

As McIntyre celebrated, MVP appeared back at the top of the ramp, and while he locked eyes with Lashley’s next challenger, T-Bar and Mace attacked McIntyre from behind to leave him laying.

Elsewhere on the show, Charlotte Flair returned and returned with a vengeance. The 13-time women’s champion cut a scathing promo, before taking out both Asuka and Rhea Ripley.
