Drew McIntyre Set For World Title Match At Clash At The Castle

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is the new number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship after a huge win on SmackDown.

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have feuded and made up maybe more than any two men in WWE history. But on this night, they were at each other’s throats.

With a World Title match on the line, McIntyre and Sheamus met in a ‘Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook’ match. As expected the bout was chaos personified as the Brawling Brutes got involved, tables were broken and there were shillelagh’s galore. But in the end it was McIntyre who claimed the win.

After countering a Brogue Kick into a Powerbomb which sent the Irish star through a table, McIntyre delivered a Claymore Kick to finish the job. Although the Scottish Warrior wasn’t left much time to celebrate as he was attacked by Money In The Bank briefcase holder Theory as he toasted his win.

The win seems to back up an earlier report which suggested that McIntyre will be facing Roman Reigns at Clash At The Castle on September 3rd in Cardiff, Wales.

The report added that the show in Cardiff, Wales is “a lock” to sell more than 65,000 tickets which would make it the biggest legitimate crowd of the year. However, WWE like to “protect” WrestleMania so the crowd might not be announced as such.

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are scheduled to meet at SummerSlam in a Last Man Standing Match with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line.
