On the latest edition of Raw Talk, Drew McIntyre spoke about his upcoming TLC match against AJ Styles at WWE’s TLC event. The WWE Champion said he had wanted to take on the Phenomenal One for a long time.
“This is a match that the fans are buzzing about. I’ve seen social media, everyone’s excited, for the first time ever it’s Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles. Me, personally, I’ve wanted this match since I was 16 years old. I started training at 15, and AJ was setting the world on fire back then (he’s a few years older than me). So, I’ve been waiting for this match for a long, long time.”
Thinking about who would come out on top when they finally come face to face, the Scotsman said he might be at a disadvantage since Styles has more experience in ladder matches, and has Omos in his corner.
“Technically, this is a match where AJ might have the advantage with ladders involved. He’s got the big man [Omos] by his side. I’ve had the odds stacked against me before, and I’m going to overcome. “
McIntyre went on to say that the opportunity for a match had taken a while to come along as the two kept missing each other through their careers. He also had some parting words for his challenger:
“I was outside the company, and AJ and I kept passing each other like ships in the night, the match never happened. AJ came to WWE, I finally returned to WWE. We got on the same roster, the match was about to happen and he disappeared to SmackDown.
Finally, he’s back on Raw, the match is going to happen, we’re going to have a hell of a match, but in the end, as always, Drew McIntyre will still be standing WWE Champion.”
