Drew McIntyre was forced to miss this weekend’s WWE house shows after sustaining a back injury.
On the July 29th edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Drew McIntyre defeated Sheamus to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Just one day later, Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing Match at SummerSlam to continue his record-breaking run at the top of WWE.
The victory set up a huge main event in Cardiff, Wales at Clash At The Castle on September 3rd. However, some worrying news concerning McIntyre has emerged just weeks ahead of the clash.
A new report from Fightful Select has revealed that the Scottish Warrior has been pulled from the weekend’s house shows as he is nursing a back injury. The report states that McIntyre is dealing with a “rough back injury” which has left him needing additional time to rest.
Despite this, McIntyre isn’t expected to need surgery, and rest will instead be the order of the day. The report adds that the former WWE Champion is still set to make his date with Reigns on September 3rd.
McIntyre was most recently in action on the August 12th edition of SmackDown where he teamed with Madcap Moss to defeat The Usos as his feud with The Bloodline continues.
