Drew McIntyre has named a WWE rising star as a future opponent he is interested in facing, hopefully as World Heavyweight Champion.
Having lost 2 out of 3 World Championships to Money in the Bank cash-ins and still yet to get a true celebration in front of fans as champion, McIntyre is hoping that things will be different on June 15th as he challenges Damian Priest for the title in Glasgow. While the upcoming match is the top priority, who would The Scottish Warrior want to defend the title against should he become champion?
While being interviewed by Aditya Kaushik of The Indian Express, McIntyre was asked about his own first title defence. While the 3-time World Champion is the most focused on making it a 4th, he did predict a future showdown with Bron Breakker:
“I am so focused on winning back the title that I really have not given any thought to the future. However, as was the case when I was the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time, I will take on all comers. Like if you earn the right to fight for the title, you’re gonna get yourself a title opportunity. I see some people coming up with a lot of hunger and a lot of potential as well.
One particular person of interest is Bron Breakker; he has been tearing through the competition, but at the same time, he’s got to learn how to harness the anger in the right direction. I’m sure I’ll see him down the line. We got a roster of very talented people and a few people injured. I’m sure they’ll be returning very soon on Raw and SmackDown. We’re already on fire right now. The company is quite hot, and once the injured people return, we are gonna go even to the next level again. It’s crazy how popular WWE is right now.”
Drew McIntyre Praises TNA Star
McIntyre has had multiple runs in UK independent promotions during his professional wrestling career both before and after his first stint in WWE. While wrestling in the UK, the former World Champion faced off against fellow Scottish wrestler Joe Hendry on multiple occasions. Hendry has also found success in the United States as he has become one of the top stars in the promotion and a success in the UK music charts when his entrance song was released as a single. Speaking in a separate interview, Drew McIntyre confirmed that he also believed in Joe Hendry.
