Drew McIntyre is no stranger to huge WrestleMania matches and if a new report is to be believed, he’s heading for another in just two months’ time.
The Scottish Warrior famously won the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36, while he failed to win back the same title from Bobby Lashley a year later.
In more recent times McIntyre has found himself teaming with old rival Sheamus as the pair tried to win the Undisputed World Tag Team Titles. However, there had been suggestions that the star could even be back in World Title contention soon should WWE break up the Universal and WWE Titles held by Roman Reigns.
Who Will Drew McIntyre Face At WrestleMania?
Despite this, a new report has claimed that he could be in contention for a very different title. Posting on social media, Wrestle Votes report that McIntyre could be involved in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Title featuring Sheamus and current champion Gunther.
“I’m told while not decided 100%, there are plans to feature an Intercontinental Championship 3 way match at WrestleMania: Gunther v Sheamus v Drew McIntyre. There are a number of supporters within creative that not only want the match, but they want it towards the top. TBD.”
Drew McIntyre has had one Intercontinental Title reign to date, and that came all of the way back in 2009. Meanwhile, Sheamus has been on a mission to win the title since last summer as it’s the only major WWE championship he hasn’t won.
Current Champion Gunther remains undefeated in singles competition since joining SmackDown in April 2022. The giant Austrian and Sheamus went to war over the Intercontinental Championship at Clash of the Castle in a match that was acclaimed by fans and critics alike.
It had been reported that Gunther could be facing Brock Lesnar in a dream match at WrestleMania.
