Drew McIntyre is a man on a mission, and that mission is to become the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion.
Although Roman Reigns has trimmed down his number of WWE appearances in recent weeks, that doesn’t mean that he has been forgotten. Far from it.
As WWE’s huge run of summer shows moves ever closer, speculation about Roman Reigns’ next opponents has gone into overdrive. Although the Reigns’ short-term prospects seem unclear, Drew McIntyre has his eye on meeting the Undisputed Universal Champion on one show in particular.
On September 3rd, WWE will host a major stadium show in the United Kingdom for the first time in three decades. Clash at the Castle is set to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales and naturally the Scottish Warrior wants to be heavily involved.
On the June 3rd episode of SmackDown, McIntyre joined the New Day in the ring to open the show. The former WWE Champion explained that he had been away from the show as he had been travelling to the UK on a promotional tour for Clash at the Castle. At this, McIntyre shed his jovial demeanour and promised to take Reigns’ beloved title at the UK spectacular.
McIntyre has had his eye on Reigns for a number of months, revealing that he was targeting the Tribal Chief shortly after Clash at the Castle was announced.
Elsewhere on blue brand, Natalya earned the right to face Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Title with victory in a six-pack challenge.
The bout marks the first time that Natalya has challenged for a singles championship on WWE television since being defeated by Becky Lynch at SummerSlam in 2019. Natalya last held the SmackDown Women’s Title back in 2017, where she enjoyed an 86 day reign after defeating Naomi.
