With his eyes still firmly set on the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Drew McIntyre has turned his attention to The Rock as a way of obtaining the championship!
Now two years into his reign as WWE Universal Champion and several months into holding the WWE Championship, Roman Reigns has reached the point of his run where every match ticks the ‘What if…’ box. Clash At The Castle was where many presumed he’d drop the titles to Drew McIntyre but alas, he rolled on as champion.
Though he only lost via Solo Sikoa’s interference, many were left shocked following the 3 September showdown in Cardiff, as Drew McIntyre was the perceived chosen one, pun fully intended, to dethrone Roman, had it been for the numbers game of The Bloodline.
‘The Scottish Warrior’ has addressed this in a new interview with Dallas Morning News, stating how he’ll take care of every member of The Bloodline to become the Undisputed Universal Champion, even if it means targeting The Rock:
“Apparently, I’ll have to go through not just The Bloodline – because I did that prior to Clash At The Castle – then the elders and a new member [Solo Sikoa]. I’m going to have to literally go through the entire family like door to door.
And I like The Rock a lot. It’s gonna pain me deeply when I go through the entire family, have to go to Hollywood, tap The Rock’s door and say, ‘I’m sorry, brother,’ then beat them him in his own doorstep because it’s the only way I’m gonna get that title off Roman.”
John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, and Daniel Bryan are among those who’ve tried and failed to win the championships from Roman Reigns. Logan Paul will be the next to try when he challenges ‘The Tribal Chief’ on 5 November at Crown Jewel.
Now at the back of the contendership queue, Drew McIntyre will go one-on-one with Karrion Kross in a Strap match at Extreme Rules on 8 October. Kross was sat ringside for McIntyre vs. Reigns, getting in Drew’s face at one stage after returning a few weeks prior.
