Drew McIntyre has come out in support of the WWE Championship victory of Bobby Lashley, stating that the veteran deserves his moment in the sun.
On the March 1 Monday Night Raw, ‘The Almighty’ shocked the wrestling world when he defeated The Miz to capture the WWE Championship for the first time in his storied career after losing the WWE United States Championship to Riddle At Elimination Chamber on February 21.
Now, with one eye on the new champion and a potential place at WrestleMania 37, ‘The Scottish Warrior’ joined Raw Talk in order to sing the praises of the ‘Chief Hurt Officer’ and throw down the gauntlet for a championship shot on ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’:
“He’s worked hard for it. The man is an absolute animal in every possible way, in the gym and ring. He’s earned this moment.
The idea of Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley is pretty big for me, it feels like a significant match for RAW. If it happens at the biggest stage of them all, that’s just fine with me. There’s no way I’m not going to try and work myself into the main event of WrestleMania.”
However, despite the congratulations, the former WWE Champion had a warning for the title’s latest incumbent free of charge:
“As someone who has been champion for a long time, I’m just going to give a little piece of advice to Lashley: there’s a lot of pressure that comes with this. Lashley doesn’t have to worry about the physical aspect like The Miz, but he’s surrounded himself with a bunch of associates who might be jealous of him now. I found that out firsthand with Sheamus. So, that’s some free advice to you, Bobby.”
Bobby Lashley was the main reason behind Drew McIntyre’s loss of the prize at Elimination Chamber on February 21, when the powerhouse jumped the Scot from behind. The attack allowed The Miz to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and capture the gold for a second time.
