A new report has claimed that the WWE draft nearly turned out very differently for AJ Styles and Omos.
During the Draft the former Raw Tag Team Champions were drafted by Monday Night Raw, meaning they would stay together and stay on their current home.
However, it has now been reported that there were plans for the team to be broken up. As noted by Wrestle Votes, people of power and a “main Raw talent” spoke up saying that they didn’t believe that Omos was ready for a singles run. It was only then that plans were changed.
The news comes after an earlier report suggested that The Street Profits were also nearly broken up. The split would have seen Montez Ford move to Raw along with his wife Bianca Belair. As it transpired the team were kept together and drafted to the red brand as one.
WWE had seriously considered breaking the pairing of AJ Styles & Omos during draft. To the point where that was the plan. Until people of power (including a main RAW talent) spoke up & expressed thoughts on how Omos isn’t quite ready for singles yet. And they actually listened.

Omos signed with WWE in 2019 appearing first as a member of Akira Tozawa’s ninja faction and later on Raw Underground. However, after Raw Underground was cancelled Omos began appearing as AJ Styles’ bodyguard in October 2020.
In the months that followed the giant helped AJ Styles win numerous matches while helping him avoid elimination on numerous occasions during the 2021 Royal Rumble. It was later announced that Styles and Omos would team together at WrestleMania to challenge The New Day for the Raw Tag Team Championships.
In Omos’ first televised match the pair were successful, holding the titles until SummerSlam where they were beaten by RK-Bro.
Styles and Omos will look to regain the titles when they face Randy Orton and Riddle at Crown Jewel on October 21st.
