A new report has indicated that WWE has left the door open for many of the NXT UK stars released to return to the company when a new brand launches.
After weeks of speculation, it was finally confirmed that NXT UK will be coming to an end on September 4th with a huge show entitled Worlds Collide in conjunction with NXT 2.0. A new brand to be named NXT Europe will be launched in its place in 2023.
Speaking to Alistair McGeorge of the Metro, Shawn Michaels said that the move was something that had been on the cards for a long time.
“This has been a goal of Hunter’s for quite some time, and I think clearly with what has gone on recently with him taking on creative, he felt that now would be a great time to have the ability to do that. NXT UK was one of the first steps in that process.”
As a result of the shift, a slew of NXT UK stars have been released by the company. Twenty-one stars in total including the likes of Trent Seven, Sha Samuels, and Xia Brookside were all let go.
Now Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that the “door is open” for many of these stars to return when NXT Europe launches in 2023. It was noted that with the long gap between NXT UK ending and the new brand starting up it may make more financial sense for the company to release talents and possibly bring them back down the line.
