WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson has seen plenty in his time in wrestling, and during his tenure with AEW, he can add scissoring to that list. The Four Horsemen member has been working with All Elite Wrestling since the company formed in 2019, and in addition to his on-screen roles, he serves as a coach behind the scenes.
Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn has also worked for AEW since 2019, and in recent months he’s aligned himself with AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens became hugely popular with AEW audiences before winning championship gold, and they’ve popularized the scissoring hand gesture along with Billy Gunn, also known on TV as “Daddy Ass.”
Arn Anderson Won’t Argue With Billy Gunn About Scissoring
Speaking on a recent episode of his ARN podcast (available early via AdFreeShows), Arn Anderson admitted that while he doesn’t entirely understand the scissoring craze, he’s not one to argue with Billy Gunn over the gesture being cool.
“Well, I guess when Billy Gunn went on board, all us old bastards that had to go, ‘I don’t get that,’ had to relent and went, ‘Hey, it’s working.’ I don’t know what it means. I don’t want to know what it means. … But if Billy Gunn, at 270 pounds of muscle, decides that it’s a cool thing, who am I to argue?”
Despite not understanding the team’s famous hand gesture, Arn Anderson had high praise for Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, saying there’s nothing not to like about The Acclaimed as they are good looking athletes who make a good team.
“Well, they’re entertaining, and they’re a good team. They’re good-looking young athletes. What’s really not to like?”
Anderson also encouraged young talent to take risks when it comes to making a name for themselves as teams like The Acclaimed prove crowds could latch onto something wacky and make it incredibly popular.
“Guys, take some chances because you never know what’s going to get over.”
The Acclaimed won the AEW World Tag Team Championships when they defeated Swerve In Our Glory at AEW Grand Slam on September 21st.
