Don Callis nearly missed AEW All In.
Callis made multiple appearances at the pay-per-view, accompanying his hand-picked stars of the future to the ring to provide valuable advice in their matches. However, there looked to be a point where The Invisible Hand would live up to his name as he was not going to make it to Wembley Stadium on time.
Announcer Jim Ross detailed the travel woes affected by talent during an episode of Grilling JR. While speaking about the issues that CM Puk experienced upon landing in London, Ross explained how logistically frustrating international trips can be, then also revealed that Callis had delays at the airport for the flight over:
You know, I saw online that somebody forgot to pick up Punk at the airport. You know, those things happened. I’m not condoning it. But they just happened. And he took the train from the airport from Heathrow down to Wembley, which I thought was kind of cool. It’s almost CM Punk-esque. When you think about Connie, you know, him, Punk riding on the train, just like a civilian. So shall we say. So it was good stuff. That wasn’t good stuff that got left at the airport.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not good. But you know, you’re moving that many people around to different locations. We didn’t stay all in the same hotel, but most of us did. But you got different locations. You got different people coming in at different times at different airports. I think Don Callis arrived in London at around two or three hours before the show. Because of air flight delays. Yeah, flight delays are just tough.
Callis was lucky to make it on time as his first appearance was on the second match of the show, accompanying Konosuke Takeshita for his trios match.
Don Callis Provides Valuable Guidance
Whatever advice Callis gave to Takeshita and Will Ospreay later in the night appears to have worked, as both men walked out of All In victorious. With Takeshita pinning Kenny Omega in the trios match, Omega wants to make things right by facing the rising star at All Out.
Ross’ view on Callis has remained unchanged, with the announcer jokingly stating on his podcast that The Invisible Hand is “a miserable pr*ck.” With Callis looking to anger the fans more than ever, his latest piece of merch will not be cheap.
Also on the podcast, Ross addressed his future in All Elite Wrestling.
