While AEW fans may have been excited to see Nick Gage carve up Chris Jericho at Fight For The Fallen, one advertiser on the show was less than impressed.
Gage battled Jericho in the main event of Wednesday’s show in what was the ‘Second Labour Of Jericho’ as the leader of Inner Circle looks to eventually get his hands on MJF. After Jericho had overcome his first labour at Fyter Fest when he defeated Shawn Spears, MJF made the surprise announcement that The King Of The Deathmatch was coming to AEW to face the Demo-God.
At AEW Fight For The Fallen, Jericho squared off with Nick Gage who came to the ring with his trusty pizza cutter in hand. During the brutal bout, Gage used the kitchen implement to slice at the arm and then the face of Jericho as he tried to either defeat or disfigure him.
The choice of weapon left pizza giant Domino’s unhappy as their commercial was shown during the programme which showed its employees using pizza cutters in a more traditional manner.
This could have bigger consequences for AEW and TNT as a whole as a spokesperson for the pizza chain says they are reviewing their advertising during AEW programming. Front Office Sports have quoted company spokesperson Jenny Fouracre-Petko as saying:
“We share the concerns expressed about this incident and the content of this TV-14 rated program, and are assessing our advertising presence on it going forward.”
Nick Gage’s appearance in All Elite Wrestling is rumoured to be a one time deal. In what was a busy week for Gage, he also lost the GCW Championship to Matt Cardona, a result that elicited an extreme response from the MDK loyal fans in attendance.
Chris Jericho’s next labour was announced by MJF after he defeated Gage with Le Champion set to renew an old rivalry from his days in WCW. Juventud Guerrera will face Jericho in what will be the three-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion’s first match on TNT in over twenty years.
