Dominik Mysterio has justified his reasons for being a “bad guy” in WWE.
Making his debut as Rey Mysterio’s babyface son in 2020. However, after a flat and one-dimensional run till 2022, the promotion decided to turn the tables and make Dominik Mysterio go heel during the 2022 Clash at the Castle PLE. Stabbing his father in the back, Mysterio joined hands with The Judgment Day.
A part of the stable since then, the former NXT North American Champion has also been a part of two WrestleMania matches against his Hall of Famer father. Recently, in an interview with Netflix, Mysterio explained why he enjoys his run as a heel, and wanted to do something different with his legacy.
“I enjoy being a bad guy. I feel like I have more liberty in what I can do, say, and get away with. I feel like I’m pushing the boundaries a little bit more. This might sound terrible, but kids and their dads will show up to events and I’m like, ‘Is that your dad? He’s probably a deadbeat too.’ So it’s just getting to have more fun with them other than being a good guy. I’ve witnessed that my whole life with my dad. I wanted to do something different with the Mysterio name.”
He further said,
“Starting off with him by my side was a huge cheat code. The man’s been in this business for 30-plus years now, so being able to have him ringside for my first couple of matches — he was literally guiding me, yelling at me, [telling me] what to do, how to do it. That was very helpful for me to grow and learn in-ring. But being able to get away from it and realizing what I can do on my own, it’s almost like removing the training wheels off the bike. Once I realized I no longer needed them, it was game time.”

Dominik Mysterio Claims CM Punk Traumatized Him As A Kid
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Dominik Mysterio opened up about his father’s rivalry with CM Punk and how he still hates The Second City Saint for that.
“I hate CM Punk. I hate CM Punk. He’s old. He disappeared for what, 30 years, came back and he’s now 60 and still wrestling. He tortured me when I was a kid. I was 12 years old and he was probably 45 at the time, maybe 50. I don’t like CM Punk. He traumatized me as a kid. Who does that to a 12-year-old?”
