Dominik Mysterio has ended Trick Williams’ North American Title before it really began.
At NXT No Mercy on September 30th, Mysterio lost the gold to Williams, but he’s wasted little time in winning it back. In their first match, Mysterio found himself in the unusual position of heading into battle alone with none of his Judgment Day family by his side.
As it turned out, their absence was too much for Mysterio to overcome. So on October 3rd, normal service was resumed via a threat from Rhea Ripley on Raw.
The match saw all members of Judgment Day involved with JD McDonagh also making his presence felt. In the end, Finn Balor made the difference, hitting Williams with the North American Title, enabling Dirty Dom to hit a Frog Splash to grab victory.
Earlier in the night, Carmelo Hayes had asked to be in Williams’ corner but his friend turned him down.
Mustafa Ali Was Scheduled To Dethrone Dominik Mysterio
While Dominik Mysterio has been reunited with the North American Title, things almost looked very different. It’s been reported that Mustafa Ali was scheduled to win the gold at No Mercy prior to being released.
Ali was planned to be involved in the match between Mysterio and Dragon Lee on Raw, which would have eventually seen a Triple Threat Match take place at No Mercy.
It’s believed this is why his departure caused so much frustration within NXT. The report claims Shawn Michaels and his team had creative plans laid out for Ali into March 2024.
Still receiving praise despite being hated by the fans, Mickie James predicts that Dominik Mysterio will be “one of the greats.”
Receiving a taste of his own medicine, Dominik Mysterio was recently the victim of a prank call by a fellow WWE star.
