Dominik Mysterio not only made history this week with his NXT North American title win but also by becoming the first WWE star ever to achieve an impressive accomplishment!
Dominik surprised the wrestling world earlier this week when he shockingly captured the NXT North American Championship with some help from his Judgement Day allies. The move not only helped NXT achieve a rare ratings victory over AEW but also paved the way for the Mysterio heir to accomplish something no other WWE star has ever done.
Eagle-eyed fans on social media have discovered that Dominik Mysterio has become the first WWE superstar in history to main event RAW, NXT and SmackDown all within the same week.
On RAW, Dominik and his Judgement Day partner Damian Priest unsuccessfully challenged Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for their Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles; he then went on to defeat Wes Lee for his North American Championship on NXT the following day; and finally defended his newly-won belt against Butch on SmackDown.
Whilst Roman Reigns & Jey Uso technically main-evented SmackDown with their SummerSlam contract signing, Dominik competed in the ‘main event’ match as touted by Michael Cole.
The only other stars who have come close to achieving this record are Bayley and the former Sasha Banks, who appeared across all three brands consistently during the summer of 2020. Whilst the duo did main event an episode of NXT on June 17th, the two only competed in the second match of that week’s RAW and did not wrestle at all on the following SmackDown.
Rey Mysterio Wants To See Dragon Lee Dethrone His Son Dominik
Dominik’s North American title defence drew the interest of several NXT stars including NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, Wes Lee and one of NXT’s biggest recent independent signings – Dragon Lee.
Following SmackDown, Rey Mysterio caught up with Dragon Lee backstage and had high praise for the NXT star. He also gave Lee his blessing to challenge Dominik and stated that he wanted to be there for the bout!
