Dominik Mysterio is the new North American Champion.
After strolling into NXT with Judgment Day on July 11th, Dominik Mysterio went one-on-one (kind of) with North American Champion Wes Lee a week later. Via multiple helping hands, from multiple members of the Judgement Day, Mysterio scored the win and claimed the NXT North American Title in the process.
Immediately after the win celebrations among the Judgment Day broke out, and Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio were smiling from ear to ear when they were interviewed backstage after the show.
Ripley claimed that fans were looking at “greatness” now that Mysterio had “surpassed his father.”
“You’re talking to greatness here. You’re talking to my Latino heat, ‘Dirty’ Dom himself. He’s already surpassed his father, deadbeat dad, and he’s just gonna growing, and growing, and growing, and he’s gonna take over this business. Because he’s part of the Judgment Day, and the Judgment Day, we run all of the WWE,”
For his part, Mysterio celebrated his undefeated NXT record and said that anything was possible with Ripley by his side.
“Thank you Mami. You’re definitely correct about all that, and now that I can actually speak and not get interrupted by a bunch of deadbeats and has-beens or whatever’s out there, I am the new NXT North American Champion, and now that I think about it, I’m 2-0 here in NXT. Your boy ‘Dirty Dom’ is undefeated, and with the Judgment Day and Mami by my side, it looks like it’s gonna stay that way,”
Has Dominik Mysterio Been In NXT Before?
Unusually for WWE, Dominik Mysterio made his debut on the main roster, taking on Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020, missing out on appearing in NXT altogether. However, before his recent appearances on the brand, Mysterio wrestled Raul Mendoza back in March 2022 meaning his current record stands at 2-0.
It is unknown how often Mysterio will appear in NXT now he holds the North American Title.
