Dominik Mysterio has placed himself over Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, and other legendary wrestlers.
Earlier last month, Dominik Mysterio shocked the world when he won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41. Since then, Mysterio has called himself the greatest IC Champion of all time, while also maintaining his title reign.
Tonight on 10th May, Mysterio successfully retained his Intercontinental Championship in a singles match against Penta, all thanks to an interference from El Grande Americano. However, ahead of his bout, ‘Dirty Dom’ appeared in an interview on The Babyfaces Podcast, and named Eddie Guerrero and John Bradshaw Layfield as the other two greatest champions in the history of the WWE Intercontinental title apart from him.
However, before naming the three greatest IC title holders, he placed himself over other legendary Intercontinental champions, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Pat Patterson, and others.
“There’s a bunch of guys that I’m better than that have had this title. You got the Honky Tonk Man, you got Bret Hart, you got Stone Cold, you got Shawn Michaels, you got Pat Patterson. I’m better than all of these guys. I don’t know how old they were when they won it. They’re all fossils at this point. But like, for me, I think that I’m only going to give you three, because I feel like five fishing for something there. I don’t know if I like it, so I’m gonna go with me at number one, Eddie at number two, and then number three, I’m gonna go with JBL. I’m gonna give JBL his flowers.”

While Mysterio successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship, Jacob Fatu and Lyra Valkyria also successfully defended their titles earlier in the night.
Dominik Mysterio Opens Up On A Previous Injury That Still Bothers Him
Speaking with Sam Roberts on the Not Sam Wrestling podcast, Dominik Mysterio reflected on one of his injuries and how it still bothers him.
“It’s probably a lingering thing from when I punctured a lung with Edge, that one match. That’s what it could be, but it’s also probably from the spears (from Bron Breakker). I did the frog splash and it had been a long time since I had wrestled at that point, so I came up a little short and cracked a small rib and that punctured my lung. It’s what happened with JD [McDonagh]. His was ten times worse.
We were in Portland, Oregon and I had a 7 AM flight back home and I got to the hospital at maybe midnight. They did X-rays and I was like, ‘Hey, can I just get the fuck home.’ They were like, ‘You can’t fly with one of these. We can do X-rays at 5 AM again and if it’s small enough, it’s your choice.’ They did it and they were like, ‘It’s small enough. It’s your choice.’ ‘Get me the fuck home.’”
