Dolph Ziggler Earns United States Championship Opportunity On Raw

Dolph Ziggler Raw

The next challenger for Damian Priest’s United States Championship has been determined after Dolph Ziggler gained a victory over the champion on Raw.

Dolph Ziggler and Damian Priest faced off in a non-title Championship Contender’s match on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. While the champion was dominant for the majority of the match, Ziggler’s tag team partner Robert Roode interfered, knocking Priest off the apron.

Roode received a Reckoning on the outside for his trouble, but was successful in yelling at Damian Priest long enough that the United States Champion was counted out by the referee, giving Dolph Ziggler a countout victory and making him the new number one contender at the hand of the dreaded numbers game.

There’s been no official word as to whether the United States Championship match will take place at WWE Day One or whether it will occur on a future episode of Monday Night Raw.

Elsewhere on the show, Omos attacked AJ Styles, ending the former Raw Tag Team Champions’ partnership. WWE later announced on Twitter that Omos and AJ Styles will face off on the next episode of Monday Night Raw. Next week’s episode will also feature Randy Orton vs. Otis and a rematch between Finn Balor and Austin Theory.
