Doc Gallows – “Rey Fenix Is The Next Rey Mysterio”

Rey Fenix

Speaking in a new interview Doc Gallows has said that he thinks that Rey Fenix is the next Rey Msyterio.

Masked Mexican star Rey Fenix has wrestled all over the world, winning plaudits and championships wherever he has been. Fenix joined his current home

AEW in February 2019, alongside his brother Pentagon Jr.

During a conversation with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the equally well travelled Doc Gallows, explained that he holds the Luchador in the highest regard.

“I will say that—I don’t know whose said this or hasn’t said this—but, I think he’s the next Rey Mysterio. I think he’s amazing. He really is,”

Gallows went on to say that he has always enjoyed working with the Lucha Brothers, describing them as “talented as shit.”

“It’s been fun for me because I’ve watched those guys. Like I’ve said before, I’m a fan. I don’t always know what’s going on as much as I used to because real life gets busy. But, I’ve been watching those guys forever and I thought they looked really fun to work with. Years ago when I was getting to work with Rey Mysterio a good bit, doing the stuff with Punk, I really enjoyed a great luchador like that with a story with a big guy like me. You can do some really fun stuff. I think those guys are great. I had a great time working with them. I hope there’s more of that down the line for sure,” said Gallows. “Those brothers are talented as shit. It comes off good, and then we’re in there hammering the shit out of them and they’re not flying on us, so I think it works.”

In recent weeks the Lucha Brothers joined forces with PAC to create ‘The Death Triangle.’ On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Fenix teamed with PAC to take on AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks. The duo were eventually defeated after Fenix had his mask ripped off, allowing him to be pinned.

While Rey Fenix may be the next man in line to become the ‘new Rey Mysterio’ another Mexican star making waves in AEW is Thunder Rosa. The Tijuana native who recently defeated Britt Baker in a historic Unsanctioned Lights Out Match, has also discussed the importance of her heritage and why it’s difficult to predict who the next Latin star will be.

Speaking to Inside The Ropes’ own Liam Stewart, Rosa explained that the process has to happen naturally, admitting that she was at first reluctant to embrace her own heritage.

“It is hard to say who will be that second person or the second generation that will bring that pride on the business because it all comes naturally. I at first I was very reluctant to bring my Mexican heritage to the table and now ever since I embraced it completely, that I think that I have become more successful because I know where I come from and I know who I am.”

While Doc Gallows and his tag team partner Karl Anderson have been appearing regularly on AEW Dynamite alongside Kenny Omega in recent weeks, the pair will attempt to regain the IMPACT Tag Team Titles at IMPACT Rebellion on April 25th.
