WWE appears poised to expand its two-night premium live event format beyond WrestleMania, with SummerSlam and potentially the Royal Rumble on deck for the transformation.
TKO Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro hinted at the possibility during the UBS Global Media & Communications Conference, suggesting that the two-day approach could enhance fan engagement and event scale. This vision became more tangible with WWE’s recent announcement of two-night SummerSlam events scheduled for 2025 and 2026.
On the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, insiders revealed that the company is actively considering a two-night Royal Rumble format.
In a follow-up, we were told the WWE is indeed considering making certain PLEs two nights, with the next option being the Royal Rumble event. WWE considered this option for Indianapolis this year but decided to hold off for a few different reasons. It is on the table for 2026. Some within the company expect it to be two nights in 2026.
The format could divide marquee matches across consecutive nights, with one night focusing on the men’s Royal Rumble and the other headlined by the women’s match. Similar plans might extend to other events.
In addition, a source states that Money in the Bank could be headed to multiple nights by 2027 as well. The ladder match could headline night one for the women, and night two could be for the men.
This potential shift signals WWE’s commitment to enhancing the viewing experience for fans while accommodating larger match cards. As the two-night approach gains momentum, iconic events like the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank could soon join WrestleMania in offering fans back-to-back nights of wrestling.
