There has been a disappointing update on AJ Lee days before her WWE return match after 10 years.
WWE is set to host Wrestlepalooza on September 20 and will see some matches take place. This will be the promotion’s first PLE on ESPN since their billion-dollar deal a few weeks ago. The show will see John Cena take on Brock Lesnar in the final match between them, ending their historic rivalry. Meanwhile, a new Women’s World Champion will definitely be crowned as Stephanie Vaquer takes on IYO SKY for the vacant title. The PLE will also see the in-ring return of AJ Lee as she is set for her first WWE match in over 10 years. The star returned on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown and took out Becky Lynch. A match between Lee and CM Punk against Lynch and Seth Rollins was officially confirmed on RAW.
However, only a week or so ahead of the match, there has been some bad news for the stars.
AJ Lee Will Not Be Main Eventing WWE Wrestlepalooza
Despite fanfare and predictions that AJ Lee would be main eventing her first PLE since returning to WWE, that will not be the case. It was confirmed by commentator Joe Tessitore on SportsCenter that Cena vs Lesnar would be the main event on the first-ever PLE on ESPN.
This means that despite fans voicing to see the former Divas Champion main event Wrestlepalooza and many experts thinking that may very well be the case, it won’t be.

As a matter of fact, it’s quite heartbreaking for AJ Lee as the star’s return has overshadowed every other return in the company. Her return amassed over 170 million views on WWE’s social media channels, far more than anyone could have ever expected.
Wrestlepalooza will also mark Brock Lesnar’s first WWE match in over two years.
