Did WWE Really Reference CM Punk On Raw?

CM Punk Has

The speculation around a sensational return to WWE for CM Punk continues.

There was a time not too long ago when the idea of seeing Punk back in a WWE ring seemed unthinkable. After all, when the star left the company back in 2014, he didn’t so much burn his bridge with them, as hit it with an atomic bomb.

However, as professional wrestling has shown for decades, time, money, and getting fired by your rivals heal all wounds.

With Punk now a free agent after being let go by AEW, rumours have gathered pace that he could be heading back to WWE. After all, Survivor Series is scheduled to take place in Chicago — or at least Rosemont.

To add to the speculation, some fans believe WWE has now started referencing the star on Raw.

A week on from Seth Rollins calling himself the “best in the world” — a known CM Punk catchphrase, on October 2nd, while in the ring with Rollins, Michael Cole said:

“… How about ‘manipulator’, ‘puppeteer’ at times. But it seems like this time around, you’re actually the puppet.”

While in isolation the sentence might seem rather innocuous, it has echoes of Punk’s famous first “pipe bomb” promo during his time in Ring of Honor.

“This is my stage, this is my theater. You are my puppets, and I pull those marionette strings, and I use your emotions, and I toy with them. Because honestly, I get off on it.”

It’s since been reported that CM Punk is in talks with WWE regarding a stunning return.

“Stay Away You Cancer” – Seth Rollins On CM Punk

While fans think CM Punk might be heading back to WWE, Seth Rollins has very little love for the star. When asked about Punk in the lead-up to the 2023 Royal Rumble, Rollins referred to him as a “cancer” and a “jerk” while warning him to stay away.

With rumours regarding a CM Punk return still persisting, the man himself was asked about Survivor Series in a recent interview.
