Did Damian Priest Turn Heel At Survivor Series?

With the battle for brand supremacy causing tempers to fray at Survivor Series, WWE United States Champion Damian Priest may well have turned heel on the show.

Survivor Series was once again home of the battle between Raw and SmackDown and this year, also the home of an unlikely case of a stolen egg.

With the red and blue brands of WWE’s main roster looking for bragging rights, the contests were sure to be hard-fought. Two teams of men and women from each brand did battle in traditional 5 vs. 5 tag team bouts with Raw coming out on top in both matches. Seth Rollins and former SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair came out of the matches as their team’s sole survivors.

In addition to those tag team bouts, a number of Champion vs. Champion matches took place. In the first bout on the pay-per-view itself, Becky Lynch claimed another victory for Raw as she defeated SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in somewhat dubious circumstances.

Randy Orton set a new record as he teamed with Riddle to defeat SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. There was another victory for Raw in the massive dual-brand Battle Royal with the giant Omos winning for the red brand.

In the night’s main event, SmackDown picked up only one of two victories for the blue brand as WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns saw off WWE Champion, Big E.

The other victory for SmackDown came on The Kick Off Show bout that pitted WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura of SmackDown against Raw’s United States Champion Damian Priest.

Throughout the bout, Nakamura’s musical sidekick Rick Boogs kept distracting Priest with his guitar riffs, leading to Priest warning him not to do it again. With Damian Priest looking to be on the verge of victory, Boogs ignored The Archer Of Infamy’s warning and struck up a tune once more.

Damian Priest then snapped. Priest snatched the guitar from Boogs on the outside before snapping it over his knee. With the body of what remained of the instrument, Priest then cracked Boogs over the head. Shinsuke Nakamura then came to the aid of his friend only to be whacked with the guitar as well, leading to the instant disqualification for Damian Priest.
