Diamond Dallas Page Claims Shane McMahon Controversy “Could Be A Work”

Diamond Dallas Page has suggested that the recent controversy surrounding Shane McMahon and his WWE departure could in fact be a “work.”

History has shown that in the world of professional wrestling, no idea is too ridiculous and no scenario is out of the question. Even it comes to Vince McMahon’s own son leaving WWE.

Shane McMahon arrived back on WWE television at the 2022 Royal Rumble where he entered at number 28 before eliminating Kevin Owens and being taken out himself by Brock Lesnar.

In the aftermath of the event it was reported that McMahon had a “lot of heat” following his role in producing the match and that planned matches at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania had been scrapped. This situation came to a head on February 2nd when it was confirmed that he had left the company.

Following McMahon’s departure, it was reported that he had been “very unprofessional” backstage and rubbed people the wrong way.

Addressing the situation on Sportkeeda’s The Bro Show, WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page said that he’s not ruling out it all being a work. DDP praised McMahon as a “classy dude” before adding that the situation still might result in a shock WrestleMania appearance.

“I’m not saying it is (a work), but I just don’t believe anything in wrestling anymore,” DDP said. “It could be a complete work. Shane’s a classy dude. Every experience I’ve ever had of Shane McMahon, it’s been straight up. I don’t see how Shane goes crazy in between, I saw him at the Hall of Fame.

“In this scenario, my opinion of Shane McMahon is really up there. I didn’t see it. I’m not going to let some dirt sheets or people talking smack take that (change his opinion about Shane). I don’t know what happened, I wasn’t there. Do I think it could be a work? Part of me (says yes). I don’t know for what reason it would be. Who knows, Shane could come through the crowd right before WrestleMania and he’s booked in…who knows.”

Ahead of his Royal Rumble appearance, McMahon had last wrestled at WrestleMania 37 where he was defeated by Braun Strowman in a Cage Match.
