With Saraya returning to action on the January 11th edition of Dynamite with a mystery partner, there has been a lot of speculation on who could be joining the British star to take on Britt Baker and AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter in Los Angeles, CA.
Many fans have been hoping for it to mark the AEW Debut of Sasha Banks, who walked out of WWE during an episode of Raw on May 16th. However, Dave Meltzer has cast doubt on that particular idea.
Dave Meltzer casts doubt on Sasha Banks being the mystery partner
In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer said that, if Sasha Banks is going to be Saraya’s mystery partner, it’s been kept very well hidden.
“Regarding Sasha Banks, if it’s happening, right now it’s a well-kept secret. There’s no indication that it is, but obviously if it was it could be kept secret from almost everyone.
Meltzer went on to note that he believes AEW would be pushing the match more on television if Sasha Banks was going to make an appearance.
Also, if it was, I’d think they’d push the Los Angeles match more each week, as they’ve gone very cold on any mentions of the match on television.”
While an appearance in AEW is up in the air, it seems increasingly likely that Sasha Banks’ wrestling return will happen on January 4th, 2023 at NJPW’s biggest show of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 17.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider recently reported that multiple sources had indicated banks would be in attendance at the event, but it was unclear if she would appear in front of the crowd or if she would be backstage.
However, since then, more details have emerged regarding Banks’ reported deal with NJPW and their sister company, STARDOM. Seemingly, The boss is set to become the highest-paid wrestler in either company at more than $100,000 per appearance.
