New information has emerged surrounding WWE contacting AEW President Tony Khan to get AEW stars to appear on Monday Night Raw.
The 27th of June edition of Monday Night Raw was a very special one for one WWE icon. John Cena returned to WWE television for the first time since his loss to Roman Reigns in the main event of SummerSlam 2021.
Cena was in attendance in Laredo, Texas to celebrate his 20th anniversary as a WWE Superstar. He made his debut way back on the 27th of June edition of SmackDown where he introduced Kurt Angle to his own brand of ruthless aggression.
Several WWE Superstars and legends paid tribute to John Cena during the night via video messages. But eyebrows were raised when AEW stars Bryan Danielson, Paul Wight, and Chris Jericho all appeared in videos to discuss John Cena as well.
Fightful Select has reported on the process saying it was “very straightforward” despite the obvious potential politics involved. Once the idea was pitched, Tony Khan was contacted to give approval and it is said that given the circumstances surrounding the videos he gave the okay.
A company source is also quoted as saying that virtually everyone they’d hope would be able to participate in the videos for John Cena did.
