During the Holiday Bash special episode of AEW Dynamite, a face-to-face between former Tag Team Champions Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland took place, which was moderated by rap star Rick Ross. Lee came out first, with Strickland delaying the entrance.
Swerve Strickland stated that he now does things his way, distracting his former tag team partner. Lee would dispatch Boudreaux out of the ring, before making his way up the entrance ramp to face off against Swerve Strickland.
As Lee made his way up the ramp, the unknown wrestler launched an attack, with commentary having no idea who the attacker was. Following a chair attack by Boudreaux, Lee was double teamed by the affiliates. The attack would end with a cinder block being placed onto Keith Lee’s chest, which Swerve Strickland dove on top of.

AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash will be one of the last episodes of the marquee show to be presented in the current format, with President Tony Khan confirming that the show will have a new look and feel in 2023.
