Details On The Backstage Reception For Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay

Kenny Omega on AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega versus Will Ospreay was supposedly the talk of the locker room behind the scenes at Forbidden Door.

Tony Khan was sure to put over the battle between Omega and Ospreay during the AEW media scrum following the PPV, but according to a new report from Fightful Select, the battle was considered to be an instant classic by many. As a matter of fact, the two fighters walked backstage to a standing ovation after the match was finished.

Reported Concern For Kenny Omega And Will Ospreay After The Match

Although it was looked upon by the locker room as a surefire match of the year candidate, several expressed to Fightful that there was worry for the health of both men after the two delivered some seemingly dangerous moves on one another. Omega calmed any concerned parties by stating he was fine after the fight and Fightful reaffirmed such by hearing that both men came away from the fight relatively unscatched from the near 40-minute fight. However, one star on the card who wasn’t as lucky is Bryan Danielson, who suffered a fractured arm during the main event fight against Kazuchika Okada.

It may not be September, but Omega and Ospreay went “all out” in their encounter as blood was shed and false finishes were a common occurance, particularly after Ospreay used a screwdriver to jab into the skull of his rival. Ospreay ultimately came out on the victorious side of the fight as he became the new IWGP United States Champion after downing Kenny with his second Stormbreaker finish.
