Joe Hendry has once again become a major talking point in WWE following the events that occurred at NXT Heatwave.
Capping off a weekend of action in Toronto, the main event of the Premium Live Event saw Ethan Page shockingly defeat Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Shawn Spears to become the new NXT Champion in only his 4th match for the company. Just as fans thought that the weekend of surprises was over, someone in the production truck said Hendry’s name as the final shot of the PLE saw the TNA star pop up on screen to signal an eventual return.
Fans have been desperate to see the former Digital Media Champion make his return to the promotion following on from his very brief appearance on the June 18th episode of NXT that saw the TNA star quickly eliminated from the battle royal before confronting Shawn Michaels shortly afterwards, declaring that he could appear on any show.
More information on what to expect has been provided by Corey Brennan of Fightful Select, who has stated that there are plans to use Hendry “heavily” as part of the recent partnership between WWE and TNA and that the company would look to utilise the TNA star’s viral success with “small teases being deemed enough.” Much like Heatwave, very short teases are expected to build to the eventual return on TV.
While currently signed to TNA, many have taken notice of Hendry’s success in wrestling and the wider world, with one source within WWE stating “Who wouldn’t?” when asked about potential interest in the TNA star when his contract expires.
What’s Next For Joe Hendry?
Continuing his meteoric rise in TNA, Joe Hendry is set for the biggest match of his time in the promotion as he will be one of 6 competitors in an elimination match at Slammiversary with the World Championship on the line.
In other TNA news, Jordynne Grace has confirmed when her contract is set to expire.
