AEW’s last four months of 2022 were dominated by one big story: the backstage incident at All Out. Following CM Punk’s controversial comments during the post-show media scrum, Punk and several others were alleged to have gotten into a massive scuffle.

That incident led to suspensions, at least one firing, and one of the key people involved – Punk – once again facing an uncertain future in professional wrestling.

But that wasn’t the only backstage confrontation that happened in AEW. According to Fightful Select, there was another ‘scuffle’ between two sides in AEW, but it was nowhere near as intense or damaging to either side as the one from All Out.

AEW Stars Swerve Strickland And Ricky Starks Got Into Physical Altercation

According to the report, Strickland and Starks had a small altercation at DoN 2022. The issue stemmed from a miscommunication that occurred during the Jurassic Express/Swerve In Our Glory/Team Taz three-way tag match for the AEW tag titles.

The report continues that an unplanned spot occurred when Swerve attacked Starks after a pin attempt on Jungle Boy. The original plan right then and there was for Starks to hit his finisher on someone.

However, Swerve found himself in a position where he was doing nothing. If Starks went ahead and hit his finisher, Swerve would be seen just standing there as Starks landed his move without any attempt at interference. And so, Swerve improvised things on the spot so that he would be thrown out of the ring instead.

Finally, the report concluded that the duo made peace and they have been working together without incident since then. Swerve is also set to discuss this issue on an upcoming edition of his podcast.
