Details Emerge Regarding Sting's Clash With AEW Management Over Booking Decision

Sting did not agree with a recent AEW creative decision.

The February 7th episode of Dynamite saw The Icon continue the road to his final in-ring encounter, teaming with Darby Allin once again to face off against Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks and Big Bill with the titles on the line. Remaining undefeated, The Hall of Famer and his longtime ally would capture the titles in the main event, adding to The Icon’s already lengthy list of accolades. While this was a feel-good moment for Sting fans around the world, this wasn’t something that The Icon wanted.

As reported by Fightful Select, the former World Champion has been long against winning and competing for the Tag Team Championships. The reason why the title match was booked is because the duo are undefeated as a team and many thought that it was long overdue. Additionally, the decision to switch the championships was made well in advance and the Hall of Famer went along with it. In regards to an immediate reaction, Sting was said to be all smiles backstage after the match.

Following the victory, Sting’s son made their way into the ring to celebrate with the new champions as confetti rained down in the arena. The celebrations would be short-lived as The Young Bucks attacked the duo with baseball bats, leaving all involved lying in the ring and Allin a bloody mess. While not officially confirmed, it is heavily speculated that Sting and Darby Allin will defend the titles against The Young Bucks at Revolution.

On the February 10th edition of Collision, another title match was made official as Eddie Kingston will defend the Continental Crown Championship against Bryan Danielson.

Where Will Sting’s Final Match Take Place?

The Hall of Famer will compete one final time on March 3rd inside the historic Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina. The venue means a lot to the Hall of Famer as it was where he had his epic 45-minute time-limit draw against Ric Flair at the first Clash of the Champions event. The Fightful report concludes by stating that the location for Revolution was changed so that it would be more fitting as the site of Sting’s last match.
