More Details On Explosive Confrontation Between Sammy Guevara & Andrade

Sammy Guevara & Andrade El Idolo split

More details have begun to emerge about a fight backstage between Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo.

Ahead of the October 5th episode of AEW Dynamite there was a confrontation backstage between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara.

The tension stemmed from Andrade claiming in an interview that Guevara complained that he had been hit too hard during a match between the pair. In the hours after the interview dropped the pair exchanged messages on social media which only served to highlight the very real issues between them.

It has now emerged that both men were spoken to on Tuesday (October 4th) about the problems, and both confirmed that there would be no issues moving forward. However, a fight broke out which saw Andrade throw punches at his rival, who didn’t fight back. As a result of the incident, Andrade was sent home.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke down the events that led to the confrontation, and how the incident unfolded.

“So Tuesday night, they were talked to, both of them, and they were told no fighting. Andrade was told that if this is your idea, you’re not going to get fired if you fight, but you will be sent home, and Andrade said don’t worry, nothing is going to happen, there is going to be no fighting, this is Tuesday night. Sammy was the same thing, nothing is going to happen.

They had security there, everybody was warned ahead of time. And then, I’ve probably heard about 5 different stories, but 3 of them are identical, which is probably similar to what you [Alvarez] have heard, and the 4th one is somewhat identical.

This is what I have heard from someone who I totally trust on this one. Andrade was waiting, everybody was waiting, Andrade was waiting in the hallway, he got 2 punches in before it was broken up. Sammy didn’t fight back, obviously and if you watch the show tonight, the punches didn’t, they didn’t leave a mark, so it wasn’t like they were solid punches or anything like that. But he did throw 2 punches, and it was broken up right away and Andrade was sent home.”

During the episode Meltzer also claimed that Andrade is openly trying to get fired by AEW.
