At the Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt will wrestle his first televised match in almost two years when he takes on LA Knight.
In typical Bray Wyatt fashion, the match won’t just be any old singles bout, it will be WWE’s first-ever Pitch Black Match. Details on the match have remained thin on the ground while WWE themselves have given very little away.
During his first WWE run, Wyatt became known for pushing the boundaries of what fans thought a wrestling match could be. Although this approach met with mixed results. While his Firefly Fun House match with John Cena at WrestleMania 36 was widely praised, two other WrestleMania matches with Randy Orton were much less popular.
What To Expect From Bray Wyatt At The Royal Rumble
With much of the build-up to the Pitch Black Match also leaving fans in the dark, a new report has attempted to clear things up. The report from Fighful Select states that there have been a series of run-throughs for the match, and it will feature “neon” elements.
In recent weeks on Friday Night SmackDown, Wyatt has hinted that a number of his former personas could soon return. After cutting a promo in a rocking chair and declaring that he is the “Eater of Worlds,” the former World Champion brought back the Firefly Fun House on January 20th.
In the Fun House, Ramblin’ Rabbit said that he was scared of the dark and worried about the Pitch Black Match at the Royal Rumble. Wyatt said that Rabbit was right to be scared of the dark and mocked LA Knight for having parents who decided to call him Los Angeles Knight.
The segment was interrupted by a short video from Uncle Howdy who repeated “I told you so” before adding “all you needed was a little push” seemingly confirming Wyatt’s return to the dark side.
As the camera cut back to Wyatt he dropped his jovial front and said it was Knight’s fault for opening the door, and now whatever comes through it is his problem.
Some have taken Wyatt’s descent back to the dark side to mean that he could bring back The Fiend.
