A certain speculated WWE plan will reportedly not take place anymore.
This year’s SummerSlam Premium Live Event was historic as it was the first time the show was held over two nights, on August 2 and 3 at MetLife Stadium. It is now the second World Wrestling Entertainment PLE held across two nights after WrestleMania, with which this format began in 2020.
Following The Biggest Party of the Summer, reports circulated that more major WWE premium live events will be held for more than one night, like the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and even Money in the Bank. However, those rumors have since been squashed, at least for the time being.
In a recent report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is not planning to host any more two-night premium live events in the near future. The update came after Nick Khan commented on the Stamford-based promotion’s recent ESPN/Disney deal, which states that all PLEs starting in 2026 will be on the network.
As per the $1.6 billion deal, the agreement was only for 12 major shows, which include eight single and two double-night events. With that in mind, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and Money in the Bank are unlikely to be held across two nights. However, it was also noted that discussions had halted, as a two-night Royal Rumble could be the order of change and be implemented at any time.

Triple H Speaks On WWE’s Recent ESPN Deal
As mentioned above, the Stamford-based promotion landed another deal with ESPN, which will run for five years. Although the deal was only made public recently, Triple H revealed that he and the company’s President, Nick Khan, had been thinking about it for a while.
In a recent appearance on ESPN Get Up, Triple H shared that the company couldn’t have landed a bigger opportunity than ESPN and expressed excitement for joining the Disney family. He also revealed that it was something that he and Khan had been working towards for a while.
I think we’ve been, Nick [Khan] and I [Triple H], have been thinking about it for a long time, of, it is the right home for it. It’s something that we’ve been trying to work through for a long time. You know, [ESPN Chairman] Jimmy Pitaro making it happen, it’s thrilling for us. Can’t be more excited.”
