It has been announced that Deonna Purrazzo will be making her AEW debut on the May 4th edition of Dynamite.
For months fans have wondered if and when The Virtuosa would be heading to AEW, and those fans finally have their answer.
On the May 4th episode of Dynamite, Deonna Purrazzo will take on Mercedes Martinez to crown the Undisputed Ring of Honor Women’s Champion.
Purrazzo won the ROH Women’s Title back on January 9th with victory over Rok-C, who is now known as Roxanne Perez in NXT 2.0. Meanwhile, Mercedes Martinez scored a win over Willow Nightingale at ROH Supercard of Honor which meant that she was crowned Interim Champion.
Since leaving WWE in April 2020, Purrazzo has cemented herself as one of the premiere women’s wrestlers in the world. The now IMPACT Wrestling star has won the Knockouts Championship twice, the AAA Reina de Reinas Title as well as the ROH Women’s Title.
Speaking in an interview in December, the IMPACT star said that she was “disappointed” that more women didn’t come through the ‘forbidden door.’
It has also been confirmed that Jeff Hardy will be wrestling his first singles match in AEW on the same show. Hardy will be in action against Bobby Fish in the qualifying round of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. On the most recent episode of the show, Dax Harwood defeated his tag team partner Cash Wheeler to advance to the first round.
Meanwhile, Fish will be looking to join his tag team partner Kyle O’Reilly in the next round, after he saw off Jungle Boy the week before.
Wardlow will also be back in action taking on a mystery opponent. After Wardlow defeated Lance Archer, MJF was found backstage making a phone call to someone he said was taller than his rival, adding “you can’t teach that.”
The line is seemingly in reference to W. Morrissey of IMPACT Wrestling who was formerly known as Big Cass in WWE.
