Dennis Rodman “Got Emotional” Returning To Chicago For AEW Collision

Dennis Rodman and Hulk Hogan

AEW Director Of Business Development Jeff Jarrett has revealed that Dennis Rodman was an emotional man as he made his return to wrestling during last week’s edition of AEW Collision.

62 year-old Rodman was also returning to Chicago’s United Center for the first time in 13 years. ‘The Worm’ wrote his name into basketball history after winning three NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls, who are based at the venue.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Of Famer was most recently seen in a wrestling ring when appearing on reality show Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling in 2008. Rodman was named as the winner of the show which saw celebrities training to be professional wrestlers.

Rodman’s return on AEW Collision saw him accompany The Acclaimed duo of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster and their partner “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn as they defended the AEW World Trios Championship defense against Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh.

Speaking to co-host Conrad Thompson on the latest edition of his podcast ‘My World with Jeff Jarrett’, the former WCW Champion revealed details behind Rodman’s emotional state as he made his return to the wrestling business.

“That man, Rodzilla, coming back into the United Center,” Jarrett said. “If that doesn’t get you emotional. To me, obviously, it’s much bigger than a wrestling story. To me, [it’s] much bigger than really a sports story. It’s a human interest — the emotion.

Dennis got emotional during the day, and certainly at the end of the night he did an interview, but I’m telling you, it is truly a – what a week”.

What Happened When Dennis Rodman Wrestled In WCW?

Rodman’s most notorious foray into professional wrestling came when he made a shocking arrival in World Championship Wrestling in 1998.

The 6ft 7 inch star aligned with the NWO and famously teamed with leader ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan to take on fellow basketball sensation ‘The Mailman’ Karl Malone and Diamond Dallas Page at WCW Bash At The Beach 1998.

Rodman also competed in singles action at WCW Road Wild 1999, falling to defeat against WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage.
