WWE Hall Of Famer DDP has compared NXT Champion Bron Breakker to six-time WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, saying Breakker’s as believable as The Beast Incarnate.
NXT New Year’s Evil saw Bron Breakker defeat Tommaso Ciampa in the main event to capture his first NXT Championship in a hard-hitting match that saw Ciampa ultimately tap out to the Steiner Recliner.
Following the bout, Breakker celebrated in front of the live crowd with his father and former WWF Tag Team Champion, Rick Steiner, the two men howling at the fans assembled inside the Capitol Wrestling Center.
Speaking on The Bro Show, former three-time WCW World Champion DDP had his say on Breakker winning the title and has high hopes for the NXT standout:
“I thought they killed it. The beginning was a bit slow but they got a long way to go. That second last half of the match – the cat (Breakker) is money. He’s believable – he’s as believable as a Brock Lesnar or any of those top guys, who are wrestling shoot-a**, bad*** wrestlers. And Brock is, of course, at the top of the food chain.”
Bron Breakker symbolically smashed a big gold ‘X’ on his way to the ring for his title bout, signifying the death of any remnants of the black and gold brand on what is now NXT 2.0.
Behind the scenes, WWE appears to have been clearing out some personnel from the previous incarnation of the developmental brand with Road Dogg and William Regal among the most recent releases made by WWE.
