Dax Harwood Names What Has To Happen If FTR Stay In AEW

Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler - FTR

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler made a surprise return to AEW at Revolution where they confronted The Gunns.

The former AAA, IWGP and ROH World Tag Team Champions had stated back in January that they would be taking a break from the ring. Furthermore, they likely wouldn’t be back in action before their AEW contracts expired in April.

This sparked speculation that they could make a sensational return to WWE or even spend a year working the independent scene.

However, following FTR’s return to AEW it was reported that they are locked into long-term deals with the company, although Harwood dismissed this, claiming that nothing had changed. He explained that the duo got a call from Tony Khan asking them to go back to work, something they were happy to do as they remain under contract.

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast FTR, Harwood again address the speculation surrounding him and Wheeler. The star said that in order to stick around, they need to be treated like “top guys.”

“If we stick around in AEW after the thing with the Gunns is over with, we have to be presented as main event-level guys. We have to be presented as, no pun intended, top guys,” he said. “Because if we don’t … the same thing that happened last year is gonna happen this year.”

Harwood is referencing FTR’s lack of storylines and matches on AEW television, despite being arguably the hottest tag team around at the time.

“You look back to June or July, we were — and I’m saying this humbly — outside of [CM] Punk in AEW, and maybe Bryan [Danielson], and [Jon Moxley] as well … probably the hottest babyfaces in the company at the time,” Harwood said. “There were no angles for us, no storylines. We ended up having like between six and seven tag team matches on television all year.”

Dax Harwood Remains Unsure About What Comes Next

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes’ Kenny McIntosh, Harwood recently explained that he’s still unsure of FTR’s next move. However, with regard to a move back to WWE, he did reveal that the presence of Vince McMahon back with the company could complicate the issue.
