AEW’s Dax Harwood recently discussed a particularly painful bump he took while performing in a match, which he describes as the most painful of his career.
Speaking on the FTR Podcast, Dax Harwood spoke about taking the dangerous bump during the classic dog collar showdown between FTR and The Briscoe Brothers at ROH Final Battle 2022:
“So he gives me the superplex and dude, it’s the most painful bump that I’ve ever had. I still have a knot on my ass all the way up to my lower back. I have a bruise that is completely covered my left butt cheek still right now.”
Dax Harwood Reveals He Feared The Worst Before Terrifying Bump
The bump, which involved being thrown off the top rope and onto a stack of chairs, was a high-risk move that had the potential to cause serious injury. However, despite the potential for pain, Harwood says he was determined to take the bump himself.
“You know, if it’s my idea, I’m absolutely not going to ask someone else to take it, you know. So I didn’t think I didn’t think about the pain at all until after the crotch and he starts pulling me up for the superplex I’m like, so many thoughts go through my head.”
Harwood admitted that he had concerns about the pain he would experience from the bump, saying:
“I remember thinking like, oh my God, this is gonna hurt really bad, that sort of thing. I started thinking like, okay, all these chairs are flat. They’re they’re, they’re stacked on top of each other. They’re flat, it’s gonna hurt but it’d be fine because everything’s flat, right?”
Despite his concerns, Harwood ultimately went through with the bump and took the full force of the move. The bump ended up causing more pain than Harwood anticipated, with the wrestler experiencing a knot on his lower back and a large bruise on his left butt cheek. He even mentioned that the flight home from Mexico, which took place shortly after the match, was uncomfortable due to the pain from the bump.
