Dax Harwood has announced that he will be taking time away from AEW to recover from a serious back injury.
Following on from his most recent match on the June 8th episode of Collision, the former Tag Team Champion detailed the nature of his injury and confirmed that his return date remains uncertain.
Taking to social media to provide the fans with an update, Harwood first apologised to AEW and to medical staff as he was not initially upfront about what had been going on in the past few months. Harwood went on to say that during his match against The Young Bucks at Dynasty, he executed a Piledriver onto Matt Jackson through the ladder and it caused significant damage to his lower back, causing a haematoma.

Continuing, the former Tag Team Champion stated that he thought he could work through it and did not want to take himself and his tag team partner Cash Wheeler off the road due to the injury. Following on from FTR’s 20-minute time-limit draw against Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, Harwood noted that the haematoma “blew up to the size of a football” and was also in a lot of pain.
Harwood went on to say that he had been in excruciating pain over the past few months and that he had been keeping the injury secret. After finally explaining the condition to the medical staff at the Collision taping, Harwood was taken off the road immediately as the injury could get worse and lead to possible early retirement.
The former Tag Team Champion admitted he does not know how long he will be off TV, adding that Wheeler will also be absent until further notice and that the sleepless nights as a result of the pain are starting to take their toll. Ending the video, Harwood thanked AEW for not “giving him any sh*t” for keeping the injury a secret and giving him the time away to recover. In a follow-up post, Harwood also posted pictures of the haematoma.
An explanation that I feel I owe everyone. The fans, my boss, the medical team, and the whole roster.
I appreciate you all, and I hope to see you soon.

It should also be noted that in between the Dynasty match and the Collision match, Harwood was also a part of the chaotic Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing.
Another former AEW Champion has also announced that they are dealing with an injury.
Everyone at Inside The Ropes wishes Dax Harwood a full and speedy recovery.
