Back in January Dax Harwood revealed that he and tag team partner Cash Wheeler would be taking some time off.
The pair were coming off the back of an incredibly successful yet bruising 2022 which saw them hold championship gold in three different promotions. However, that success came at a cost with the duo battling The Briscoes in a particularly brutal Dog Collar Match in December.
FTR last stepped in the ring at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and it’s unclear when and where they will be returning. Their final match in AEW to date came on the December 21st edition of Dynamite when they lost to The Gunns.
Harwood also confirmed during this period that their contracts with AEW expire in April, and they are yet to decide on their next move.
However, a recent post on social media led some fans to believe that FTR could be returning quicker than anticipated. Harwood tweeted that he missed wrestling, causing some fans to wonder whether that meant a return was imminent. Speaking on his podcast, FTR, the man himself has claimed that this isn’t the case, he simply loves wrestling, coffee, and tequila, or any combination of the above. Although he admitted that if Tony Khan wanted to use them, they would return to AEW before April.
“There was no correlation there, none at all. I just happened to be watching wrestling, drinking coffee, and the two times of the day where I have endorphins completely running through my body are my first cup of coffee, especially if I’m watching wrestling, and my first drink of tequila. That’s all it was.
Endorphins and I really do miss wrestling. I still have to take things easy, let my body and mind rest, recuperate and be ready for, if we come back before April, I would absolutely love that. If Tony is on board with that and that’s what he wants, I would love to. If that’s not what he wants, it’s his company and I will do whatever he says because I trust him and he’s the boss,”
Is Dax Harwood Going To WWE?
Aside from an AEW return, there has been huge speculation that FTR could be heading to WWE.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler joined the company in 2014 after already becoming friends while working on the independent circuit. The pair wrestled a number of acclaimed matches in NXT before also finding success on the main roster. Known as The Revival they became the first-ever WWE Triple Crown Tag Team Champions after winning gold with NXT, SmackDown, and Raw.
The pair left WWE in 2020 after becoming increasingly disillusioned with the way that tag team wrestling was presented by the company.
However, in a recent post on his Instagram stories, what appeared to be a WWE envelope was visible in the bottom left corner. This was cropped out by the time the photo made it to Twitter.
