Dax Harwood had a very busy 2022.
With his FTR tag partner Cash Wheeler, he successfully added the ROH and IWGP Tag Team Championships to his trophy case. Outside of tag team action, he competed in matches against the likes of Bryan Danielson, CM Punk and Claudio Castagnoli on AEW television.
However, also part of Dax Harwood’s year was a series of well-received matches against The Briscoes at ROH Pay-Per-Views, a trilogy that he has recently commented on.
Dax Harwood Claims Recent Trilogy Could Be In Contention For “Greatest In-Ring Trilogy Of All-Time”
On his “FTR with Dax Harwood” podcast, Dax Harwood spoke at length about his 2022 trilogy of matches against Jay and Mark Briscoe. Alongside partner Cash Wheeler, FTR faced the Briscoes in three critically acclaimed bouts between April and December 2022.
When prompted, Harwood commented on what legacy he thinks the trilogy will have.
“I wouldn’t mind if it goes down as the greatest in-ring trilogy of all time.”
“I understand that there is Steamboat and Flair and that’s a hard bar to measure up, but I would like for that to be it. I would like for it to go down as the three greatest tag team matches of all time and I know that’s a hard bar to beat too.”
FTR’s first match against The Briscoes occurred at ROH Supercard of Honor 2022, the final Ring of Honor show before AEW Founder Tony Khan purchased the company. The bout was won by FTR, who claimed The Briscoes’ ROH World Tag Team Championships in the process.
They would meet again at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022, this time in a two-out-of-three-falls match. FTR’s World Tag Team Championships were on the line during this affair, and they would escape with their reign intact, defeating the Briscoes two falls to one.
A double dog-collar match at ROH Final Battle 2022 completed the trilogy. The Briscoes would finally avenge their two losses to FTR in a bloody battle, winning back their ROH World Tag Team Championships. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer gave their final bout 5.5 stars, the highest rating of all three matches.
