David Finlay has added fuel to the fire concerning his future with New Japan Pro Wrestling and a potential move to NXT.
The former Young Lion’s father, Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay, had previously disclosed his son’s desire to explore other opportunities in an interview earlier this year, but now the man himself has offered his opinion.
Speaking with Wrestling Observer Live, Finlay noted how we preferred wrestling the American style over the Japanese and also revealed that he would soon be moving to Florida, which is of course where the WWE Performance Center is based.
Perhaps more tellingly, the former IMPACT Tag Team Champion went on to note how he would like to train under NXT coach Shawn Michaels and that a match with current NXT star Kyle O’Reilly was high on his wrestling wish list.
Though not necessarily related, The Observer’s report on the interview referenced the reported discontent among New Japan’s foreign stars over the quarantine measures placed on each trip and the difficulties this presented for their respective schedules.
Finlay is however set to compete tonight at NJPW Resurgence where he’ll be challenging Jay White for the NEVER Openweight Championship.
